I bought this item to make cleanup easier after making milkshakes. Instead of disassembling a blender and washing individual pieces, I simply wash the tumbler and the spindle – super simple!
Another advantage I found was that I can make thicker milkshakes with this. My mixer ( a very nice KitchenAid) will cavitate if the ice cream is too thick, but because you can move the ice cream around with this type mixer, you can make much thicker shakes. We are very happy with it.

This optional mixing bowl far outperforms the original plastic bowl included with the Bosch Universal Mixer. While it cannot utilize the wire whips or cookie paddles, mixing bread and other similar batters are easier, cleaner, and come out (in my opinion) better. I make bread for my family often. I Like the ease and capacity of the metal bowl. If I want to make cookies or meringues, I still use the original, but all else requiring the dough hook is now done in this bowl. I wish they included it in the original configuration as it makes the Bosch Universal Mixer so much better!

In my serach for a mixer that would make homemade marshmallows, I narrowed it down between the Viking and the Kitchen Aid. The Viking mixer was fairly new at the time but the reviews were great. The long standing Kitchen reviews had gone from good to terrible. From what I read, Kitchen Aid replaced some of its metal machine/motor parts with plastic parts and the mixers were breaking inside. For the same price the Viking is built better and is industrial strength. I can make multiple batches of marshmallows back-to-back without any strain on my Viking mixer’s motor. It actually makes the marshmallows in half the time as my mom’s Kitchen Aid, which is half the time the recipe calls for. I am very pleased with my purchase and would tell all my friends and family to get a Viking if they were looking to purchase a mixer. I am even looking to purchase their brand in other kitchen appliances. As a baker, you cannot go wrong with this one!
